Try feng shui to lure romance into your home
Rita Watson /Providence Journal, June 3, 2012
With the ringing of wedding bells for June brides, there is both excitement and wistfulness.
Those who are “always a bridesmaid, but never a bride” have mixed emotions. Even long time married couples wish they could recapture romance. There is little solace in the recent bantering that both supports and refutes the notion that 30 percent of women marry the wrong man and know it when they walk down the aisle.
If the quote attributed to Humphrey Bogart sounds like something you might say — “I want love, passion, romance, and marriage … the whole damn thing!” — let June become your inspiration.
To invite love and romance into your life, try a change in thinking and décor using the art and philosophy of feng shui.
The space around us can encourage us to see more clearly and develop a better picture of a satisfying relationship.
Start with the entry. Whether you arrive home as a couple or if you invite someone into your home, the entry is the first impression. It should say “Welcome.” Even if your door opens directly into a living room or a studio, consider what meets the eye and how a new love or your spouse reacts when walking through the door.
Using feng shui, find the southern location that symbolizes positive energy, lasting passion and enthusiasm. The area fires up the energies of tenderness and romance, so light it up with reds and yellows against a muted backdrop of beige tones. Create a love corner either in the bedroom, the living room, or both. Focus on pairs: candles, flower vases, or rose quartz crystals.
In the bedroom itself, remove everything but the bed and dresser and bring back only what is essential and beautiful. Place a night stand on each side of the bed and lamps with pink bulbs. Banish all gadgets, laundry, computers and especially the TV, because you are the entertainment! Change the mood to soft tones.
The book “Feng Shui Your Life” by Beverly Hills consultant Jayme Barrett and actress Mary Steenburgen is like a tapestry that weaves together ways in which the heart, mind and surroundings can create quiet beauty. From meditation to placement, an atmosphere filled with loving expressions resonates and captivates the aura of love.
