Tiger Woods has lost his marriage, his Number 1 golf ranking, and also his ability to get back into the game. There was a time when the golf course belonged Tiger Woods.
More than a year after revelations of infidelity and sex addiction, he is now Number 7 in the golf world and has not won a tournament in 17 months. As the Chicago Sun Times reported today, April 7, 2011, it was a “Quiet start for Tiger Woods at Masters.”
Woods lost multiple endorsements and the British press estimates that it cost him approximately $1 million per mistress. Today he is a single dad struggling to get back his swing. One wonders if the life might have been different for Woods if his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren had addressed her husband’s sex addiction and spoke words of comfort to other women who might have experienced her pain.
His affairs and his game
Today Robot Celeb.com asked “Did Tiger Woods’ extramarital affairs play a part in the disintegration of his game? Tiger Woods is no longer looked at as a formidable foe in the game. It wouldn’t be surprising if Tiger Wood’s confidence took a major hit, after it was revealed that he had been cheating on his wife with tons of women. . .Will Tiger Woods ever recover from his infamous affairs?
Sex addiction is traumatic
With all the hype surrounding Woods’ divorce, mistresses, and Elin’s demands we tended to forget that the man has undergone the trauma of sexual addiction.
Dr. Aline Zoldbold, formerly with the Lahey Clinic, and a Diplomate in Sex Therapy by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists and a psychologist told me in an earlier interview that:
“Oftentimes, it is the non-sexual events in your family of origin which form adult sexual personality. And as therapists we need to learn this from our patients.”
“Everyone speculates about Tiger Woods. But we do not know what happened in his life that brought him to this place.”

Dr. Aline Zoldbrod, says this about the divorce
“Of course, I do not know any of the specifics of the Woods case. However, in many of the cases I see where sexual compulsion is an issue, particularly when the husband has had multiple affairs, it is common for the wife to want a divorce immediately upon hearing the news. It’s a major crisis of trust in the relationship.
Dr. Zoldbrod added:
“It is possible, over time, for them both to understand and come to grips with the causes of the addiction and for the person who acts out sexually to change. But the partner’s disruption in trust takes a long time to heal; their rage, hurt, and feelings of humiliation and betrayal are profound. And there is an isolation to the experience.
Dr. Zoldbrod added: ”
To stay together, you need ongoing professional help and group support.” Dr. Aline Zoldbrod – Sex Smart
A golf game gone awry
While we look back and wonder “Did Tiger Woods’ women kill his game?” the bigger question is this: “Can Tiger Woods put the past behind him and focus on the game — his future?”
