Relationship reconciliation is blocked by ‘cheater’ label

Posted on June 27, 2010 by Rita Watson

Labeling is damaging in so many ways — forget political correctness. Labeling is basically name calling and branding, a technique used by teen girls who are bullies who use deliberately hurtful words and rumors to harass.
Labels are difficult to live down as we have seen when it escalates to racial profiling.
With regard to men who cheat — we call them cheaters or dogs.
Yet we appear to be kinder to the women with whom them cheat.  We use words such mistresses, paramours.
The terms prostitutes and whores have been banished from our politically correct dictionary and we are told to replace them with the term “sex workers.”
The problem with the word “cheater”– it can hinder reconciliation.
