If we look at decency as “behavior conforming to accepted standards of morality or respectability” than why are two supposedly Democratic senators playing the Republican game? These two oppose democracy. They will fight against voting rights because they seemed to be reporting to their demon sides.
Joe Manchin (WV) Krysten Sinema (Az) remind me of the Kardashians who revel in defying acceptable dress standards as they embrace nudity within the law. The Kardashian game is solely to call attention to themselves.
And so it goes with Manchin and Sinema — no original ideas and only a desire to stand out in a crowd and call attention to themselves and their base.
With regard to voting rights, Norman Ornstein, emeritus scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and a contributing editor for the Atlantic, said on Twitter:
“I have read Joe Manchin’s statement. He quotes his predecessor Robert Byrd from a 2010 hearing on the filibuster– wrongly.” @NormOrnstein:
Blake Montgomery at the Daily Beast noted a statement from Emily’s List:
“If Sen. Sinema can not support a path forward for the passage of this legislation, we believe she undermines the foundations of our democracy, her own path to victory and also the mission of Emily’s List, and we will be unable to endorse her moving forward.”
Further, Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT) was quoted in the Wall Street Journal as being Open to Supporting Primary Challenges to Sinema, Manchin as Democrats are frustrated with their moderate colleagues’ stance on filibuster rules, Biden’s agenda.x
It is time to take a stand for decent behavior and honesty in the Senate and banish those who are a threat to our democracy. #MaliciousManchin and #ShamefulSinema
