Love Daily: Veterans Day quotes, Nov. 11, 2010

Posted on November 11, 2010 by Rita Watson

Today we are celebrating Veternans Day.  Some nations call November 11th Armistice Day, marking the anniversary of the agreement that ended the first World War.  Yet today as we remember soldiers who have fallen we must also remember that there are thousands of men and women in uniform in Iraq and Afghanistan.
At the end of these quotes there are links to Sandra Bullock saluting the troops and a link to a Billy Ray Cyrus story about hosting the new TLC show, “Homecoming” in which our military are reunited with families. Some quotes to think about this day:
– “How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!” – Maya Angelou
– “How far that little candle throws his beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world.” – William Shakespeare
– “I dream of giving birth to a child who will ask, “Mother, what was war?” – Eve Merriam, playwright
– “As we express our gratutude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – John Fitzgerald Kennedy
