Love Daily: Music for the soul, Nov. 22, 2010

Posted on November 22, 2010 by Rita Watson

Have you ever been to a symphony in which you were so close to the performers that you could feel their passion?   Today I was reminded of an Andre Watts piano performance  with an orchestral chorus of sensual woods, lighthearted strings, and melodic feelings that said,  “This is love.”
Sitting in the second row, I was dazzled.  I could see the pianist’s lips move as he spoke to the keyboard.  I could dance with his fingers as they teased and glided over the keys.  I could feel his body breathe and drink in the sounds.
There was no musical score to distract him, he and Beethovan’s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat Major, op. 73 were one and the same. Yes, this was love.  His love of music and our love for the gift he gave to the audience.
They still date

And as I reflected on this moment, I thought of a couple who are about to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.  How do they keep their love alive despite what appears to be a good deal of sniping?  They go on a date each evening.
They retreat to their living room and enjoy a “concert.”  If you are there with them, you sit and listen and watch the two of them drink in a loving peace and occasionally he will take his hand in hers — and smile.
Love is companionship, the togetherness of joys and sorrows, good times and bad, agreements and disagreements — but always you can say, “I am here.”
One can search for love, or one can wait for love.   But for certain one must prepare the heart to give and receive love.   Concert hour for this couple has become a time to restore moments of peace and fill up on love.
The more love we give to others, the more likely love will come to us. The choice is ours.
