We can embrace with a warm hug or we can embrace someone with our words. I so often repeat the saying:
Be kind to all those you meet; we never know what burdens they may carry in their hearts.”
And in many ways that saying is a hug. So often you hear people regret that they failed to pass along an embrace. Then they promise to remind themselves next time.
The time is now. Life brings us to roads we might not have planned to travel, and the opportunity to express a loving word, a kind thought, is lost.
A compliment as a hug
Last evening found me stuck on one chapter of a new book. Exasperated from trying to juggle family responsibilities. Disappointed that I was not able to see friends who are a part of my “usual suspects” world. And most of all, I was exhausted.
So I headed out for some Cappuccino and ran into the neighborhood’s dearest of all curmudgeons along the way.
While he always brings a smile to my face, last evening he did something quite out of character. He took a minute to stop and be complimentary. For me, at that moment, it was a gift.
A Love Columnist and St. Curmudgeon
I realized that I write Love Daily and believe every word of it. But I must confess that it is sometimes difficult to practice what I preach.
Then there is St.Curmudgeon. In his way, he is always ready to make the people he meets each day feel warm and coddled.
Maybe the lesson here is to pass along the gift. As dear Dr. Leo Buscaglia, would say:
What love we’ve given, we’ll have forever. What love we fail to give, will be lost for all eternity.”
Wishing you all a day of love and happiness. / R
