Love Daily: Love in Nature, Nov.20, 2010

Posted on November 20, 2010 by Rita Watson

Sometimes love is a walk into the woods or a park.  Sometimes love is marveling at the birds that chirp, the hawk that flies overhead.  Or love can be a moment when we let the world stand still while we watch a falling leaf blowing about in the autumn wind.
“Love” by Kelly Cherry
In the attention it pays to each detail,
In its frailty and flexibility,
In the way it seeks out a new trail
While stumbling repeatedly upon the old,
You will know love, and know that what it cannot fail to do . . .
Is render even this late scene in all its abundance.
The red tailed hawk overhead,
Spongy moss springing back from wet bark,
The sound of your own walking
Through these autumnal woods.
