The Old Spice Guy has become a national sensation. We all love the man with diamonds in his hands. Here is a thought.
If he can propose on Twitter for a fan and revitalize a somewhat tired “Old Spice” what can he do to promote safe sex?
Despite what we know about safe sex — one in every two sexually active young person will have developed some form of STD by the time they are age 25. And MTV kicked off an impressive campaign this year. MTV Fights STDs
Now there is more disturbing news — the over 50s are seeing rates soar.
A recent BBC report says, “The over 50s infection rate in England, Wales and Northern Ireland more than doubled in under a decade – from 299 new cases in 2000 to 710 in 2007.
“Experts say the figures are a stark reminder of the importance of practicing safe sex, whatever your age.” BBC News – HIV rate rises among over–50s
The Unites States, Love, sex, and matters of the heart
One reason for an increase in HIV is education and the misperception “It can’t happen to me. Condoms are for kids.”
Another reason is “later daters.” With so many divorces, more men on Viagra, and people looking for love, sometimes people just get careless.
