Too often young couples lack joy. We live in a world of competition in which we are all over-extended both at work and at home. For too many people of all ages — we run on stress. When this happens, joy just seeps out and judgment seeps in.
When joy starts slipping away, even something simple is handled with a sense of annoyance, or worse — judgmentally.
How often have you been with friends who tease their husbands in public about expanding waistlines?
They often do so laughingly, but not joyfully. They may be very concerned about their husbands’ weight and instead of working together will tease in way that seems harmless but wounds the fragile feelings of men.
For every one playful but judgmental remark to a man about his weight, there are three women out there waiting to say, “Ooh, ooh, ooh, I just love your teddy bear tummy.”
Be joyful for your relationship. Be joyful for your friends. Friends play a role in just how happy and well balanced we become.
About joy and judgement, William Shakespeare has written: “Joy delights in Joy” and within the Bible we find the admonition, “Judge not and you will not be judged.”
Choose JOY!
